Description:

    Element of church interior- the Great Russian Imperial crown. In a temple "Crown" was situated on the top of Imperial gates in central part of iconostasis. With the statement of autocracy in Russia in XVI century, it was considered that tsar during ceremony of crowning in church receives heavenly protection and authority from the God. The crown comprising a symbol of heavenly and terrestrial authority became an element of a decor of an iconostasis down to the beginning of 20 centuries. The presented crown decorated an iconostasis of church in the Arkhangelsk province. One lateral wooden brush is lost. During Soviet times the crown was covered by a bronze paint.
