    Agathon Leonard (1841-1923). The sculpture "Dancer." Modern. Dimensions 25x15x38sm. Foundry SUSSE FRERES EDITEURS, Paris. Signed in the casting of the sculptor «A. Leonard Selp.» And stamp bronze casting workshops «SUSSE FRERES EDITEURS». Agathon Leonard was born in Belgium, but in his youth he moved to Paris to study at the Art School (Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris) from a master Eugene Delaplanche. In 1887godu Agathon Leonard became a member of the Society of Artists in France. In 1897, a member of the National Society of Fine Art. In 1900 he was awarded the Legion d'Honneur. The most famous series of sculptural works - monitoring dancers, among them the work of "a tragic pose" and "scarf game". This series of sculptures in the style of Art Nouveau (Modern), inspired by a dancer Lois Fuller was created in the period from 1895 to 1900. In addition to bronze, Agathon Leonard also worked in marble, quartz and ivory.
